Details: Tokyoblu are right back in the thick of it with their latest release, Groove Tonight, timed to coincide with their 6th birthday party in Edinburgh on Friday 19th September at the Cabaret Voltaire. Infused with some of the catchiest vocals designed perfectly for dance floor and terrace action, it’s a bouncy, energetic and perfectly poised track destined to rock everywhere it’s played.
“We’ve locked ourselves in the studio and thrown away the key to get this ready,” explains John Hutchinson from the Tokyoblu collective of band, DJs and club night. “There’s been loads of material bubbling under so we thought it was time to actually get on and do it. Plus we have played T in the Park, are playing at V and also at the Beck Fusion event in Manchester in early September, so with these great gigs coming in it seemed exactly the right time to release Groove Tonight.”
And just to show how proud and keen they are with their new track, there’s a veritable smorgasbord of mixes covering almost every (good!) electronic genre, a true aural palette of deep house, throbbing electro and soul-infused disco. It’s a release the guys have spent most of the summer honing across the range of mixes and it’s easy to see how this might just sneak in under the usual dross radar and become the hit the guys deserve.
“We’ve quietly been doing out thing for years and have released some strong stuff,” John explains. “What’s been missing is a hit really. The ideas are there and the team is great – we have got a brilliant team of talented musicians – so we’re all hoping this might be the one that really gets us noticed. It feels right have the single launch at the birthday too – you can bet it’s going to get played for sure!”
