Bed. Supposedly the
most glamorous venue in the North of England, and
from what I had heard before our visit, I wasn't
to be disappointed. Well, maybe I had got my hopes
up a little too much.
On our arrival around 11pm we were met by the polite
and friendly Bed Promoter and door personal, no
attitude "I Like". On entering we took
up residence in the main seating area taking in
the general feel of the venue and its inhabitant's.
Bed's main room has an open feel with two main bars
either side of the dance floor and chic lounge area
slightly raised above the dance floor. The inhabitants
of the main room were not as quite glamorous as
I would of expected, and some more like a crowd
from Ritzy. The beats being laid down early in the
night kept the crowd entertained, however this took
a spiral motion downwards, as the night progressed.
The white room of the venue can be found just tucked
away to the right of the main entrance. Now this
displayed something of a more glamorous crowd to
the main room with a delightful blend of smooth
funky house tracks, however this was spoilt by the
fact that the temperature in this room was unbearable.
The main attraction of the night on the line-up
was the Rhythm Masters, well one half of the once
formidable pair. Sadly the music in the main room
was a let down, and the second room was just the
reverse shame about the heat though.
However I must commend Bed's staff, from door personal
bar Staff through to PR Staff, forever happy and
part of show from start to finish.
It should also be noted that on the same night Gatecrasher
were boasting a huge line-up featuring Paul Oakenfold.
This occurrence had on obvious effect on the turn
out and feel on the night.
In all fairness I think
we caught Bed asleep. However, looking at the line-up
for this summer they're sure to pull the sheets
from under any competition. For this reason we shall
be revisiting this haven of Funky House this summer. |
