Many people have anticipated
this night for a good couple of weeks now, and anyone
that knows Brad 212 Finlay, or have heard him play,
know that they are in store for a "funkin"
great night. And for those that hadn't had the privilege
of witnessing him do what he does best before Saturday
night, witnessed exactly that at the Anexo Bar and
judging by their response couldn't get enough of
it.
The Anexo Bar is part of Turnmills and has 2 levels.
The main bar is situated downstairs with quite a
large seating area, while upstairs there is more
seating and another bar next to the dance floor.
The dance floor is a bit small but then again it's
probably not every Saturday night that this venue
exceeds its capacity of 200 people. The bar is very
well decorated and very funky at that and has a
certain Italian feel to it.
Thomas Leonard kicked things off with a deep and
soulful set of funky house, which was enjoyed by
the large crowd already filling up the dance floor.
It created a great mood upstairs and you could already
feel the atmosphere starting to generate.
A percussionist played for an hour before Brad started
and played a tribal influenced set. He had some
great beats and got the crowd banging and drumming
as if they were playing the drums themselves.
Brad received a loud reception as his set began
at 12. By this time upstairs was totally crowded,
as this is what everybody came to see. His choice
of tunes was brilliant and proved he has the ability
to get any dance floor pumping and jumping up and
down. Brad plays every week at Fresh Fridays at
the Chapel in Islington. He is definitely a DJ to
watch out for and if you want a guaranteed night
full of funky and chunky US house and funky beats
then put on your bowling shoes and get on down there
because I promise you that he wont disappoint. At
the end of his set, Brad received a well deserved
round of applause as he played brilliantly and also
organized the night, which was definitely a success.
All in all it was an excellent turn out for this
event and was just a little taste of what was to
follow downstairs in Turnmills as City Loud had
already started, where the likes of CJ Mackintosh
and The Kleptomaniacs were ready to blow us away. |
