Line-Up: The Sharp Boys,
I used to be a fairly regular visitor to Brighton's famous Pussy Cat Club night when it was held at the Zap, but since it moved to Concord2 (a 10 minute walk west along the sea front) I've just not had the Chance to get down there, so when we heard the pussy cat was putting on a lavish 10 th birthday Party, my clubbing buddies & I (or "the collective", as we're known) franticly searched for anything pink that we owned, jumped in the car and headed south-east.

Brighton 's club culture is (as far as I'm concerned) unique in this country, you won't find anything quite like it north of the Balerics. So heading back there always feels like a real treat.

One unintentional "bonus" with the move to the Concord2 is that now when you are queuing to get in you are treated to a free john-boy road show, as every wannabe Vin Diesel in Sussex apparently descends on Brighton Promenade every Saturday night to show the town how fast & furious their XR2 is.

Now for those of you Who've never been to the Pussy Cat before, the nights are often themed, (Saturday's theme was "Pink",well, it is Brighton!!) and are attended by Brighton's best (often outrageously) dressed & most beautiful clubbers.

So, once inside it's a chav free zone. Now, the concord doesn't have quite the same intimate feeling as the Zap, it's three rooms are all on one level, the first as you go in has the feeling of an open-plan bar, not a night club the music is funky house. Even though it didn't open until eleven, by half past, this room was pretty busy, the second (and main) room, hints that the concord2 is more of a gig venue, than a night club, the toilets only serve to confirm the fact. There is a third room, which is a chill-out / Bar area and serves reasonably priced drinks & snacks.

I spent most of the night in the main room, I like funky house, but sometimes you need something with a bit more edge, there weren't quite as many people as I was expecting, but there was still a sizable crowd and the throng were really enjoying mix of music that the Sharp Boys! were throwing out, there was also a nice line in live musical accompaniment from several musicians.

The sound was funky, yet dirty (much like the crowd!) who were obviously there to party and that's exactly what they did.

By 2am the Music progressed and dance floor had filled and everyone was getting down to club classics, which is always good, for my money you can't go wrong, it's so good to hear a selection of those tunes from back in the day, by the time "till I come" by ATB came on, I was absolutely blown away.

You can take the Pussy Cat out of the Zap, but you can't take the Zap out of the Pussy Cat!

One complaint is, that eleven till four just isn't long enough, by the time you're really feeling into it, the end is upon you.

Then maybe that is the secret to a good club night.. Leave them wanting more.
