Well, The Gallery definitely has a new home. Ministry was rocking last night. This was my first time at The Gallery since the closure of Turnmills, and it lived up to my expectations.

I mean, everybody knows about Ministry; the history, the brand, the nights etc. but The Gallery at Turnmills was a very special night, with a brilliant atmosphere, so I was very happy to see that it has still got it in abundance.

When I first heard that The Gallery was going to Ministry I thought it was perfect, just imagining the Box Room with all this superstar DJs.

It’s all about The Box room (main room really). We walked in there at 1am and oaky was already 30 mins in to his 2 hr set. It was rammed. The heat hit you instantly as did the fabulous sound system. Excessive Noise levels they warn you as you walk in! They’re not kidding.

Gavyn Mytchelwas warming up tonight, we’re so used to him playing last, that confused us! Anyway, brilliant set from Oaky, and we’re always told his DJing is not a priority blah blah. The packed Box room and the vociferous appreciation shown by the crowd demonstrating that his popularity is still very high.

Well, I loved it, the mixture of driving progressive house, a bit of tech house and trance, with big bass lines and a whole lot of melody too. To be honest, this music is right up my street. Didn’t know many of the tunes, until near the end when Southern Sun 2008 and Not Over got played. The last tune took it up a notch further, it felt like we were back in the good ol’ trance days, with a full on 140+ bpm slammer!

Another ex-Cream resident, Seb Fontaine, was up next. He stepped away from the trancey sound with a nice mixture of all things house. The room was just as busy now at 4am as it was at 1am.

We did wander into the Bar Room too for a bit, there were some top DJs spinning in there with Peace Division, Steve Lee and Chris Fortier. It wasn’t as busy in there as the Box room as you’d probably expect with the heavyweight line up next door, but it’s good to get out of the heat for a few mins!

Gallery regular Hernan Cattaneo then finished the night off in the Box. Didn’t see much of this set but he’s back in a few weeks anyway. Need to pause for breathe!
