Details: Not only is it difficult to come up with an original and worthy concept in this day and age of copycat compilations, but the hard task is also choosing an artist to front your compilation, an artist who has been hyped or is about to be the next big thing, all whilst retaining underground cool and mainstream capabilities – Resist presents Claude VonStroke ‘At The Controls’.

It was a pretty hard act to follow after the critically acclaimed stint ‘At The Controls’ in October of last year by Get Physical daddies M.A.N.D.Y, with James Holden kicking off the series in February 2006, but Resist have twisted a few buttons and come up with a corker – le deejay du decade and one of electronic music’s hottest producers of the chemical generation - Claude VonStroke steps up to host the third in a series that aims to delve deep into the musical psyches of the world’s greatest contemporary DJs.

Since the release of Richie Hawtin’s “Best Track of 2006”, ‘Who’s Afraid of Detroit’ and follow-up ‘The Whistler’, whose familiar bleeps and whistles got us all pursing our lips and losing our heads on dance-floors all around the world, Claude VonStroke is one artist everyone wants a piece of. Now with his offering, a ‘melt-the-ears’ mix, consisting of 30 tracks over 2-discs comprising of some of the best in deep techno and solid electrohouse from his very own quirky ‘Dirty Bird’ label and his soon to be launched sub-label ‘Mothership’, aswell as tracks from Get Physical to Kompakt, Crosstown Rebel Music and Yoshitoshi, ‘At Your Controls’ takes this series to a new level.

Claude commented, “I really had fun with the 2 disc format. On Disc 1 I was able to put together the type of Dirtybird style mix people know me for already. On Disc 2 I was able to get a little deeper and experimental, more along the lines of my new label, Mothership. The discs represent two different sounds but I think you can hear my sleazy weirdo personality throughout the entire project”.

Claude released his full-length debut album, “Beware of the Bird” to excellent reviews, further establishing him as an original talent in the world of underground dance music. Since then, Claude has done remixes for a very diverse group of top artists ranging all the way from the indie rock band, The Rapture (Vertigo) to Jeff Samuel (Pokerflat)

Locals better know Claude VonStroke as Barclay Crenshaw, the owner of San Francisco’s tech-funk label, Dirtybird. The label consists of Crenshaw (VonStroke,) fellow producer Justin Martin, and a diverse assortment of top remixers from around the globe such as John Tejada, Audion, Diplo, 3 Channels, DJ Assault, and Kevin Saunderson.

The idea for Dirtybird began in 2003 when Crenshaw was producing an intense 5-hour DVD about electronic music called, ‘Intellect’. The project was a labor of love, taking almost 2 years to complete and starring over 35 top producers and legendary DJs such as Derrick May, Swayzak, Derrick Carter, Deep Dish and Paul Van Dyk, Theo Parish. The main goal of the “Intellect” project was to make an informative DVD that could help DJs advance their careers in electronic music. The result was Crenshaw himself starting Dirtybird Records and a production career under the alias, Claude VonStroke.

Since 2005, Dirtybird has managed to solidify a reputation for releasing oddball classic techno and house tracks. The outdoor Dirtybird parties in San Francisco’s scenic Golden Gate Park have also become a legendary summer destination point for both locals and international travelers.

In addition to production and label management, Claude VonStroke has an intense regime for preparation and a great ear for song selection. His DJ sets are always inspiring and surprising. You will never hear a monotonous set of music because Claude always takes time to find the special cuts that make for a completely original experience that is not to be missed.

Claude is currently hard at work on his second album. So, until then, fasten the Velcro on your dancing shoes and be prepared to allow Claude Von Stroke’s ‘At The Controls’ to ascend you into turbo mode.
