Details: After celebrating ten years of his Dance Anthems show, the most popular dance music show on national radio and a Sunday night institution1, Radio 1 DJ Dave Pearce is unveiling a specially prepared album for fans – Classic Dance Anthems.

Widely credited with being one of dance music’s leading lights, Pearce has been responsible for breaking some of the world’s biggest dance tracks, taking dance music to a wider audience and helping shape the face of the scene over the past 20 years.

Rammed with 54 tracks that can hold their heads up high as some of the biggest anthems in dance from the nineties and noughties, the triple CD features a blend of the most requested tracks from both the show and also from Pearce’s travels around clubland. These range from groundbreaking classics that have changed the face of dance music, to tried and tested upfront tracks that are consistently doing damage on Pearce’s visits around the UK’s premier dancefloors, and are destined to become future classics.

With his Dance Anthems show set to move to a new Friday night 11pm-1am slot on Radio 1 in October, Sunday 7th October will mark the last ever Sunday night show.

Pearce said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute of Dance Anthems on Sundays over the last ten years, and am excited about being part of Radio 1’s new Friday night dance slot. After our massive party to celebrate 10 years of the Sunday show, I thought now was the ideal time to bring out a ‘classics’ album that incorporates everything from old school to trance and house.”

CD1 is laced with recent dance anthems like Robyn’s massive number one ‘With Every Heartbeat’, the devastatingly effective ‘Creeps’ from Freaks, and Bob Sinclair’s worldwide smash ‘Love Generation’.

However, it also features a host of today’s most in-demand tracks, such as ‘Let Me Think About It’ by Ida Corr vs Fedde Le Grand, plus a number of as yet unreleased exclusives, such as Samin’s techno treasure ‘Heater’.

Pearce added: “All of the tracks bring back very happy memories of my adventures in clubland over the last decade. There have also been so many awesome tunes this year that it’s been hard to know how to fit them all in. The one I’ve been asked for the most in recent weeks is Samin’s ‘Heater’, an unlikely accordion based track that became the bar anthem of Ibiza this summer and looks set to split the nation between those who love it and hate it, when it finally gets released next month.”

His previous compilations have sold more than a million copies, and this latest album from Ministry of Sound looks set to continue that success.

CD2 is a real step back in time, as Pearce showcases some of the tracks that have been the mainstay of his Dance Anthems show over the years. From early 90s rave anthems like ‘Everybody’s Free’ by Rozalla, the Future Sound of London’s mesmerising ‘Papua New Guinea’ and Liquid’s ‘Sweet Harmony’, to Fatboy Slim’s notorious Rockafeller Skank and the hypnotic ‘Resurrection’ by PPK.

Pearce added: "The second CD is full of memories for everybody. It’s particularly apt that we can include ‘Insomnia’ by Faithless, as that was the biggest track of the year when we started the Dance Anthems show back in 1997, and it’s still requested today."

CD3 is a trance treasure, containing 18 of the most popular trance tracks of recent years. These include York’s euphoric ‘On the Beach’, ‘1999’ from Binary Finary, ‘Luvstruck’ from Southside Spinners, Rank 1’s ‘Airwave’,and a recent Pearce fave, the massive ‘Why?’ by FKN featuring Jahala.

Pearce said: “CD3 is really indicative of the trance sound that has dominated Dance Anthems in recent years. All of these tracks have been huge for me for many years and they’re a great example of what I’ll be playing on the new Dance Anthems UK tour.”
