Details: With another season of sun-drenched summer fun on the horizon, dance music’s most enduringly popular party protagonists, Hed Kandi, have lined up the latest glittering chapter in their ever-popular ‘Beach House’ series. The seat from which the Kandi empire is built, Beach House epitomises the very essence of Hed Kandi’s summer adventure, keeping wave after wave of blissful beats lapping at your feet with their breezy care-free Balearic vibes and Latin rhythms all spread, unmixed, across two CDs.
Easing into things with the Rasmus Faber mix of Reel People ft Darien’s ‘Alibi’ ‘Beach House’ warms you up with the track’s jazz-soaked soulful intro dropping into a bouncing groove that can’t fail to spread the sound of sunshine far and wide. Horns and strings come to the fore for Hot Hands Pres. Karyna ‘Quiero Tus Caricias’ which gets a dancefloor shakedown courtesy of DJ Meme, Gia Mellish’s silky vocals ride across laid back Rhodes and funky clavi’s on Aaron Ross’s ‘Love Potion’, whilst a Marion D & George Mena mix of Pulse’s ‘The Lover That You Are’ gives a percussive drive to proceedings. Samantha James gets a swinging KJ soulful mix on her ‘Breath You In’ before Wez Clarke, Maxine Hardcastle and The Lovely Laura lay down ‘Another Chance’. Panevino’s ‘Freeze the Frame’, Tiger Stripes’ ‘Consecration’ dub, U-Ness ft Robina’s ‘A Tu Lado’, Studio Apartment’s ‘I’m In Love’ featuring dance music deity Ron Carroll as re-rubbed by Rasmus Faber and Kings of Tomorrow featuring Rae who come under Jose Nunez’s spell on his Throwback mix of ‘Can’t Stop’ all keep the mercury rising, as CD1 comes to a clinquant climax with erstwhile Way Out West man Jody Wisternoff’s Starstrings and Wez Clarke’s So Saxy dub of Limerock’s ‘Saxopolis’ featuring another welcome appearance from the Lovely Laura.
The sunshine continues to beat down on CD2 as Groove Armada get busy with ‘Love Sweet Sound’ and Kandi favourite Miguel Migs gets in on the act ‘Giving It All’ before adding his not inconsiderable talents to Lisa Shaw’s ‘All Night’ and Yogi & Huski’s driving funk jam ‘Feels Alright’. Carlos Silva’s Latin roller ‘Cre Saba 2008’ featuring Nelson Frietas and Q-Plus undergoes some Knee Deep treatment before Rasmus Faber makes his third appearance with his own ‘Demanda’ which sees Mr Migs at the controls for a vocal mix. With the Kandi crew throwing down Chuck Love’s Bailando, Bob Sinclar’s blistering club heatwave ‘Meu Carnival’, Benji Candelario & Vincent Kwok’s ‘Quiero Saber’, the Evereel Allstars ‘Get It On’ another Wez Clarke & Maxine Hardcastle joint ‘Walking With A Smile’, and an MJ Cole rebuild of Myomi’s ‘Sun In My Eyes’, it’s left to Fred Falke’s wave powered ‘909pm At The Beach’ to bring 2008’s sublime Beach House to a dreamy close.
The divine soundtrack to over 200 Hed Kandi parties happening this summer, ‘Beach House’ is another immaculate addition to Hed Kandi - the supreme keepers of the sunshine vibe.
