Details: Hed Kandi is proud to present the very first fruit from their new Artiste Series. With a tradition of successful artist albums from Late Night Alumni, StoneBridge, Peyton and Booty Luv, the Artiste Series looks set to be another valuable string to the Hed Kandi bow. Written and produced by the US West Coast’s leading pioneer of soulful electronic music, Miguel Migs, Those Things is a masterful double-disc CD that sees him fusing together the sounds of rolling US house grooves with soul and electronica.
Miguel’s characteristically fresh, bumping house music sets the tone on CD1 of Those Things Deluxe, with live instrumentation adding depth and soul to his songs creating a unique organic-sound dripping with sunkissed grooves and sand-in-your-toes house beats. There are collaborations aplenty from the likes of Groove Armada collaborator Tim Fuller and the fabulous Lisa Shaw, all of which transport you effortlessly into Hed Kandi’s stylish world with their all-consuming appeal. In Miguel’s own words this is music “that you can enjoy and listen to at home, in the club or anywhere – not necessarily just to rock the dance floor”
Disc 2, Those Things Remixed, moves things on to the next level, showcasing all of the tracks on CD1 through a spectacular array of remixes from many of the leading lights on the electronic music scene. Crazy P’s deliciously smooth and soulful trademark sound lays the foundations for the album with “Sometimes”, while Australian producer Simon Grey adds a thick layer of funk and synths to Lisa Shaw’s sensational vocals in ”Those Things”. Brit duo, Faze Action get to work on “Fire” creating an explosive tropical tune that blends Afro-Jazz inspired house rhythms with a backline of blaring horns, followed neatly by Rasmus Faber’s superb edit of “So Far”. Miguel’s own unique remix style can be heard on several of the tracks, with the highlight being the phenomenal remix of Cottonbelly’s “Fire”, its funky bass lines bringing contrast from the original with impressive results.
Deep soul grooves interlaced with down-tempo licks and feverish R&B riffs from one of San Francisco's premier DJs complete with mixes from the house elite. A must-have for music fans across the board. Hed Kandi will also be offering budding DJs and producers the chance to remix one of the tracks on the album which will put them in with the chance of winning an all inclusive VIP trip to Ibiza.
